The situation
V from BTS asked fans to stop waiting outside their hotels during the tour, citing the impact on his rest and ability to explore cities. He shared a personal message and sleep data to illustrate his point. This comes after BIG HIT MUSIC reiterated its stance against stalking and invasions of artists' privacy.

What the internet did with it

  • — "he's literally showing us his sleep data and you're still gonna show up at the hotel?"
  • BIG HIT MUSIC's recent statement on stalking and privacy invasions included the example of a stalker being sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years, highlighting the severity of the issue.
  • Theqoo comments were surprisingly unbothered, with many fans expressing understanding and support for V's request, using phrases like *_ė‚Žėīë‹Ī_* (refreshing, referring to a welcome and honest statement) to describe his message.

The open question
The key question now is whether fans will respect V's request and give him the space he needs, especially considering BIG HIT MUSIC's vow to take immediate legal action against those who invade the artists' privacy. The effectiveness of this plea in changing fan behavior remains to be observed, specifically in the upcoming European tour stops.

For “Oppa” or “Unnie” to notice them. That’s how sasaengs think. They don’t even care if they’re noticed for a bad reason.

I'm still new to kpop and it always baffles me how none of them seem to get in any legal trouble for it, besides the obvious examples like attempting to break into a member's house. You'd think following people around 24/7 would break some kind of stalker law...

Honestly I agree but this is the same even in the west. Celebrity stalkers get away with so much until they do something awful to the object of their obsession

I agree. Though I've never seen the airport stuff happen outside of kpop, as in swarms of fans somehow knowing the group's schedule. But maybe it's just because it's never popped into my feed
