ARTMS have seemingly released their new MV on their alt instagram account as a fake reaction video... they are geniuses... I'm obsessed.

Oh. Okay. Someone in the comment section on Instagram said that there's going to be two mvs apparently. I'm not sure if that's true, but I guess the second MV will be the one that's officially posted and released. I'm just confused tho. I'm not super familiar with artms, I'm just a casual, but what happened to the lore of the last comeback? The bird girl with no arms getting vengeance on her mother? Or was that just for that era only? I need to watch the MV again.

I recently made a post about it on the LOONA subreddit: LOONA Jungian Archetypes / Psychoanalysis Theory I mention various things which might be confusing if you're a casual and know nothing about the LOONAVERSE, but the second half of the post is regarding the new comeback, Hyper-Ego. I hope it's helpful!

Thank you for this! I'll check it out.

I think that the story of the bird girl with no arms won't be continued, as it served it's purpose as an allegory /extended metaphor solely for the "icarus" mv. The bird girl was made a promise by her mother that was left unfulfilled, and she felt betrayed. you can see from the frame on 0:21 of the mv (sorry can't add pics) that the "mother" is portrayed as the idol projection of artms. Idols often make false "promises" in their careers e.g. "i'll be there for u when your wings break" and create parasocial relationships (as seen in virtual angel), but can't fulfil those promises irl, leading to a lot of people confusing "fake" (virtual) with "real" (physical), and expecting too much of their fake perception of their idols. This was hinted at at the end of the virtual angel mv, but the consequences of this deep cult-like parasocial relationship are further explored in the icarus mv, where the parasocial fans ultimately find solace through human connection in "club icarus". Sorry that I went on for a lot or if it didn't make sense, idk how to explain efficiently. TLDR I don't think the bird girl will be continued, as she was used as an allegory rather than a main part of the lore.

There's a lot of references to the established ARTMS lore in the background text of the MV. If you watched Virtual Angel or the Icarus MVs where people are staring at TV screens and ARTMS seem to be trying to lure you into their TV/Virtual world then this MV seems like one of their lures and the "Real" Mv that was teased (iirc it was said somewhere that a fake MV and a real MV will be released) will be a more lore focused one (maybe something happens to the two girls reacting to the MV)
