The situation
ILLIT has reached 20M monthly listeners on Spotify, a milestone that no other 5th gen group has achieved. This puts them in a unique position, given their relatively recent debut. The group's name, a combination of "I will" and "it," symbolizes their independent spirit and potential for infinite possibilities.

What the internet did with it

  • — "they're really making their name known, and i'm here for it, no one expected them to hit 20m so fast"
  • The group's total streams have also seen a significant increase, with 6.9 million streams in the last 28 days, indicating a strong and dedicated fanbase.
  • On Theqoo, the room was generally unbothered but impressed, with some users noting that ILLIT's *_사이닀_* (refreshing, cool) concept and music style might be a key factor in their rapid growth.

The open question
The question now is whether ILLIT can maintain this momentum and continue to break records, and what their next move will be to capitalize on this success, possibly with a new comeback or album release.

On top of this achievement, LSF now has the most monthly listeners of any Kpop girl group on Spotify. The sister groups are kicking ass!

LSF is very liked by the spotify algorithm. It fed me so much of them I had them as most listened of 25 even though I didnt start from their songs a single time.

That's a lot of words for saying what i think you want to say while avoiding saying it.

But let's be real, it's mainly cause people love LSF. They have tons of bangers, including their b-sides, their bond as a group is authentic, they're consummate performers who can hold the stage all on their own, and their vocals hold up under heavy choreo. They've come a long way, they were always talented, and they'll keep growing as a group and conquering the world of pop. Naturally IBM is behind this Spotify explosion, but a lot of people discovering LSF will stay to become fans. That's why their follower counts keep growing across different social media sites. They reached 8 million YouTube subscribers in short order after IBM's release, and the day after it came out they had their highest daily Spotify follower increase since May 3, 2022, since their freaking debut days. Sorry for saying so much, I just love LSF so freaking much, and I'm ecstatic at their strong international success. A global girl group 😏😌.

Congrats! Monthlies show reach more than anything else and they tend to fluctuate with different releases. It’s also immune to fandom wrangling. This is a big number for kpop, I think the only groups ahead are BTS, BP, Katseye and now LSF. Jennie’s currently at 50 and RosΓ© was in the APT era. BTS peaked at 46 when Arirang dropped and BP at 34 during the Jump era. Katseye 37 in January. Obviously this is partly due to the collab but it still means they’re in a lot more people’s ears than before.

Congrats, ILLIT!!! 🫢 What a huge milestone! I hope this means some of those new monthly listeners will stick around for the long haul :)
