The situation
Jung Eunwoo, a former member of PRISTIN, has spoken out about the group's disbandment nearly seven years after it happened. In an Instagram Reel, she shared her thoughts on the group's management and the challenges they faced as idols. Eunwoo's comments have sparked renewed discussions among fans about the group's potential and the difficulties of being managed by Pledis Entertainment.

What the internet did with it

  • — "she's finally saying what we all knew, that Pledis dropped the ball with PRISTIN" - a sentiment echoed by many fans who felt the group was mishandled.
  • Eunwoo's remarks stopped short of directly criticizing Pledis, but fans have interpreted her words as a clear indication that the company's priorities lay elsewhere, leading to PRISTIN's inactivity and eventual disbandment.
  • On Theqoo, the vibe was largely unbothered, with many users acknowledging that Eunwoo's comments were not particularly surprising, given the group's history and the common struggles faced by idols in similar situations.

The open question
The question of what could have been done differently to prevent PRISTIN's disbandment remains, with many fans still wondering what the group's career would have looked like with more consistent promotions and long-term planning. Eunwoo's comments have left fans to ponder the what-ifs, and the lack of a clear statement from Pledis Entertainment on the matter continues to leave the situation feeling unresolved.

Still cannot fathom how a fairly large company (at the time) like Pledis could've fumbled this group so badly. They debuted them, gave them 1 comeback, released a subunit.... and then immediately gave up on them. It would be understandable if they were some penniless nugu company but no! This company had big popular groups like Seventeen, Nu'est and After School! Because of them we never got to see how well Kyulkyung could've done in Korea as a Kpop idol and I will forever be salty about that. (She was my IOI bias)

They didn't even put in the effort with NU'EST and After School, even though they were doing well at the time. When SVT debuted, I saw how popular and successful they were, but I was afraid they'd be discarded (as they did with the other groups) luckily svt was able to remain fairly stable.

After school First love was not their best seller and their comeback were super expensive and Nana's UI-e acting career waw starting to be more profitable . The writing was on the wall. Hello venus kinda got most of their future after school member so I doubt they had a strong lineup to replace Jungha , Nana and UI-E . Plus the last 2 member dint made an impact like their previous member. So It would have cost ALOT of money to invest in the new Lineup But I think they could have survive with a bigger push in the japaness market. They were doing well over there

They literally had the perfect recipe for a successful idol group. - lots of exposure where 4-5 members were on an extremely and back then, extraordinarily unique and pioneering show - 2(3?) members being in the successful project group from the show - rookie of the year - sunbae’s were also a very popular and successful BG - relatively well known company - had an English and Chinese speaker, expanding their reach to international fans - songs are catchy Literally WHY. Wasting half of Xiyeon’s life like that is my biggest gripe. I would’ve filed the biggest lawsuit in South Korean legal history if I were her.

Its Shannon for me, what a waste of a Wendy level vocal. Glad she's still doing music but man, what a fumble.

Tbh they fumbled Nu’est, and After School always had rocky moments esp at the end. Then they shelved Orange Caramel, who they basically abandoned after school for. They even mismanaged Son Dam Bi at her peak. I remember people literally begging her to come back, then after her contract ran out it was revealed Jonghyun amongst others wrote songs for her that they did nothing with. I’ve never thought of it this way but you’re absolutely right lmao - their artists get super popular but they disregard them as nugus. But then how did they thrive with seventeen, thats literally so many members to mismanage lol.
