The situation
BTS has beaten The Rolling Stones' seven-year Boxscore record, topping the monthly Top Tours chart with over $125 million in earnings. Their Arirang World Tour grossed $127.8 million and sold 641,000 tickets over 12 shows in May, marking the biggest monthly gross by a group since the chart began in 2019. This achievement surpasses The Rolling Stones' $95 million from August 2019 by 35%.

What the internet did with it

  • Netizens on Theqoo were generally unbothered, with some commenting on the impressive numbers — "the gap between BTS and other groups is insane."
  • BTS' monthly gross increased by 68% from April to May, with attendance surging by 54%, largely due to higher ticket prices in the US and more shows in bigger stadiums.
  • The tour's success has pushed BTS' career Boxscore earnings past the half-billion mark, with $503.1 million from 3.3 million tickets sold from 87 reported shows.

The open question
The question remains whether BTS' Arirang World Tour will surpass the Love Yourself World Tour's $213.9 million, as they are currently within striking distance with over 50 shows left to play in 2026.

One thing I really appreciate about HYBE group tours is that their promoters usually report attendance data to Boxscore, so the numbers end up being independently verified. I personally don’t put much stock in fan-run twitter accounts counting blue dots, especially when those estimates start getting repeated as if they’re factual. There’s one account in particular that has a history of being off by a pretty wide margin, yet K-pop stans still cite it as a reliable source. I’d rather wait for verified Boxscore or Pollstar data than rely on seat maps and speculation.

Who which account?

I wonder if they can reach the $1 billion ticket revenue mark by the end of the tour 🤔. I know we still have Middle East and Japan to be announced. Side note: Red Rocks Amphitheatre is my dream BTS venue. Forget the comeback show in Korea, give me Red Rocks instead. It’s a bit of a trek to get to, but that backdrop is absolutely majestic. Just imagine BTS performing there at sunset.

based on currently known shows it's looking more towards ~800m but depending how many other dates they add and if they do an extended encore it could possibly cross 1B. personally hope they come back for an encore to wembley next year 🤞
